The beginning : Opening speeches

Simul’ONU begins with the opening speeches, it’s when delegates come on the podium and make their first speech in front of the assembly. After delegates’ speeches, there is some time for countries to speak, comment and make some collaborations.

Nationalism

This afternoon there was a lot of nationalism, like Mali who sung their anthem or Germany who said a slogan of one of their companies “Bayer, science for a better life”. Because of that they’ve been kicked out by the security.

Some countries intervene with their country’s flag on the podium but that’s prohibited.

Finally, some stated values were met with scepticism from the other delegates ; for example between the United States of America and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea ; United States of America said that Democratic People’s Republic of Korea dare to speak about peace and democracy while we all know it’s a dictatorship. Also Mexico and Argentina wondered why the United States of America participated to the assembly because Mexico is in conflict with the United States of America ; Argentina agrees with Mexico so they think this powerful country doesn’t respect the values of the UN.
